Dan Davis - Physiologist for Kona SUP Racing Team

Dan works with physiological tests, educations, as well as training and coaching in various forms. The customers are everyone from beginners to elite active at the highest level. Dan also runs various cycling teams with the main focus on the 300 km swedish cycle race Vätternrundan. The fastest team in 2019 recorded a time of 6:54 and one of the teams won the “VR bike games.

In parallelhe runs his own investment in stand up paddle (SUP). The big goals of the season are the Swedish Championships, the Göta Kanal SUP race and the 14 km long World Cup race on the Seine in Paris. Dan is passionate about SUP and is convinced that the sport will continue to growboth as a main sport for many athletes and as complementary training to other sports. For Dan, SUP is about functional holistic training and nature experiences together with others 

Six quick questions for Dan  

  1. Whatis your sports background 

-Football until 2010. Has played in Asker (Norway), Maif and IFK Norrköping. I also wore the Swedish national team jersey when I was 16 years old. Since its fitness sports with a focus on cycling and where one of the main goals in 2020 is the Nordic championships in road cycling, VR and VR bike games.  

  1. Whatdo you work with at Idrottslabbet and what is your educational background 

-Works mainly with physiological tests, educations and training and coaching in various forms with everything from beginners to elite active at absolute top level in several different sports. To date, I haveamong other thingsperformed and analyzed over 3000 lactate certificatesAlso participates in various research projectsOne of my goals now is to be able to help develop the SUP paddlers of the future through testing and training. Is a trained elite coach, test leader and crisis manager.  

  1. Howlong have you been paddling SUP?  

-I Started paddling SUP in the summer of 2019 when I came in contact with Joachim at Kona Sports. I lit up right away and we quickly started different events together. At the same time I started training others in SUP and then I ran the 21 km Göta Kanal SUP races myself. A jump start!  

  1. What are your SUP qualifications 

-They are coming! Lol 

  1. Whatare your big goals for the season 

-The swedish championships, Göta-canal SUP race, and Paris Crossing.  

  1. Whyis SUP a sport for the future 

-SUP provides functional holistic training at both central and local levelHere you train balancestability and large muscle groups at the same timeAlso out in nature. SUP is perfect for "otherathletes to use as a complement but also as the main focus. SUP will also be even more accessible to everyone in the future. For all these reasons, SUP will only continue to grow.
