SUP – Joy of movement and exercise on the water
SUP , or stand up paddleboarding , is the fastest growing water sport in the world. Stand-up paddling, stand-up paddling or paddleboarding – whatever you call it, it involves standing on a SUP board and paddling across the water. With its accessibility and versatility, SUP is an activity for everyone – children, adults and the elderly – whether you are looking for play, recreation, training or competition .
Experience Sweden from your SUP board
Sweden is a paradise for SUP paddling with thousands of lakes, rivers and a long coastline. Standing on an inflatable SUP and gliding across the water gives a unique feeling of freedom and closeness to nature. Few things beat the feeling of paddling on a mirror-like lake at sunset – or SUP surfing along the waves on a sunny beach.

Buying a SUP – which SUP board is right for you?
If you are buying your first SUP, we recommend an inflatable all-round SUP . It is suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers and works for most things – from leisurely rides to light training. All-round models are also often lower in price compared to specialized boards for racing or surfing.
Which inflatable SUP is best?
The quality of inflatable SUP boards varies. The difference lies in the construction, choice of materials and stiffness. A cheap SUP may work for children or lighter people, but if you are going to paddle as an adult you will need a SUP board with a stronger construction and drop-stitch technology that provides better stability, durability and longevity.
How long should a SUP board be?
- 10'8” (325 cm) – most popular length for recreational paddling. Easy to handle and maneuver.
- 12'6” (381 cm) – faster, with better course stability.
- 14'0” (427 cm) – provides the best glide and speed, perfect for long rides and training.
How much weight can a SUP handle?
A well-built inflatable SUP with a thickness of 15 cm can normally handle up to 130 kg.
All-round boards usually carry about 90 kg + 40 kg of cargo (child, dog or pack). Stronger models can handle up to 170 kg total weight .
Can two people ride a SUP?
Yes! A good quality, stable SUP board can be used by two people. Choose a longer model (over 10'8”) for better space and balance.
How many fins should a SUP have?
All-round SUP boards usually have a single fin in the middle or two smaller side fins. For SUP surfing or downwind paddling, boards can have 1–5 fins depending on the design.
What is a SUP board?
A SUP board (paddleboard) is a surf-like board that you stand on and paddle with a single-blade SUP paddle .
There are two types:
- Inflatable SUP (iSUP) – easy to transport and store.
- Hard SUP – built in fiberglass/carbon fiber, provides maximum speed and response.
Why practice SUP?
SUP is a full-body workout . It strengthens balance, core stability, arms and legs – and at the same time, paddling provides mental relaxation. SUP combines strength, endurance and balance in a natural way and is perfect for both exercise and mindfulness on the water .
Is SUP safe?
Yes, SUP is a very safe water sport. With a leash and a life jacket, you always have safety and buoyancy aid close at hand. If you also learn basic SUP techniques, the risk of accidents is very small.
Where are SUP boards made?
Most SUP boards today are manufactured in Asia, where production technology and materials have developed rapidly.
However, many Swedish brands design their boards in Sweden to ensure high quality, durability and performance .
Care and storage of your SUP
Store your inflatable SUP board rolled up or partially inflated in a cool, shady space.
Rinse it with fresh water after use, let it dry and avoid direct sunlight to extend its lifespan.
