OCEAN 12.6 CARBON HYBRID
The perfect training and competition board for SUP that can be handled by anyone regardless of previous experience. The SUP board that makes you experience the allure and understand the benefits of training SUP. Kona Ocean minimizes the entry into SUP training and glides extremely easily and quickly in all weathers and waters. This also makes it a very nice board for touring.
FUNCTIONAL DESIGN
Kona Ocean's both hydro- and aerodynamically tested shape means that the board can more easily stay the course in crosswinds and brake less in headwinds. The influence of the speed wind is thereby also reduced when the board is controlled in tailwinds. Ocean's unique hull construction means that we can now put all our energy into driving the board in the right direction instead of having to put effort into fighting wind and waves. Now we instead get the opportunity to use these to our advantage. With its slender lining and profile, the Kona Ocean 12.6 Hybrid Carbon cuts straight through each wave without slowing down.
CONSTRUCTED FOR GLIDE
Through its design and planing hull, Kona Ocean has the very best conditions to glide as easily and effortlessly as possible in all conditions. A large and balanced surface all the way from nose to tail and strengthens Ocean's ability to maintain speed. This also makes the Kona Ocean 12.6 Carbon Hybrid less sensitive to weight changes in the longitudinal direction, which means that we can put more effort into driving and trimming the board without having to compensate for involuntary rolling. The idea with this type of hull is that it should be high in the water in order to minimize water friction. As a result, we need to maintain a slightly higher stroke rate when paddling a board with a planing hull in relation to a SUP board with a displacement nose, such as Kona Numinous.
VOLUME
Kona Ocean 12.6 Carbon Hybrid is designed with the smallest possible volume in relation to the weight of paddler it must be able to carry, as well as the cruising speed that the board is intended to be able to keep. Our extensive field tests on the water have shown that a balanced volume distribution is crucial for how the board will work in different conditions and how the board reacts to different forces during paddling. For optimal volume distribution and to counteract pitching, the standing surface is therefore gradually raised to the rear towards the stern. With Kona Ocean's fitted volume, the board has good stability even when steered from the tail, i.e. that there is sufficient buoyancy even when you are standing on the tail during, for example, a pivot turn or when you ride a wave. The increased volume in the tail also makes it easier for the board to come with the waves when, for example, downwind paddling.
STABILITY FOR PERFORMANCE
The extremely low standing surface is something that is unique to Kona and is the basis for our motto "Stability for Performance ™". Standing as close to the water surface as possible means that the joint center of gravity (JCOG) of the board and paddler is lowered. This means that the board receives increased support from the water and feels less nervous. The board does not "roll" as easily, i.e. wiggles from side to side. By being closer to the water, we also get a better control of the board and can therefore more easily trim and control it through weight transfer.
SURFACE
Kona Ocean 12.6 Carbon Hybrid has a superior durable and protective surface layer that is strong enough to withstand light blows. The construction has been encapsulated with four coats of the same type of paint used in the automotive industry that have been polished in the factory for the highest finish. This, together with Kona Ocean's unique design, is the basis for the board to be able to paddle daily for at least 9 years.
DECK
The whole deck on Ocean 12.6 Carbon Hybrid has been clad with a deck pad in EVA of the highest quality with so-called diamond structure to provide optimal grip and to facilitate circulation in the feet during long paddles. The deck pad is also recessed into the deck so that the board has as low a center of gravity as possible.
DRAINAGE
For efficient drainage of the low standing surface, the Kona Ocean 12.6 Carbon Hybrid has been designed with double drainage holes. These are immersed in the sides of the board with a negative aft angle to prevent water from flowing back into the board. The elevated standing surface in the tail also contributes to water flowing more easily off the board and that the water that has been flushed over the edges can flow down towards and out through the drainage holes.
FIN
Kona Ocean 12.6 Carbon Hybrid comes with a 7-inch (175 mm) hand-shaped fiberglass fin of the highest class. The fact that it is just made of fiberglass has a number of advantages such as that it e.g. gets the right flex and weight in relation to the board. The fin's design is also optimized to provide course stability, maneuverability and minimal resistance in the water. The fin depth also offers a good balance between stability and maneuverability and works great for pivot turns even in shallow water. The fin also has a relatively long base (175 mm) in relation to the size of the board to provide the best possible course stability and acceleration. The fin angle of 51 ° means that it can easily be paddled through seaweed etc.
FINBOX
The fin box on the Ocean 12.6 Carbon Hybrid is of the so-called US model with a total length of 10 inches (254 mm), which is considerably longer than the market standard. A longer box makes the board even more adaptable and allows the paddler to adjust the position of the fin completely according to prevailing water conditions and individual preferences. The Fenbox has been placed significantly further forward towards the nose than market standards in order to provide increased opportunities to control the board's performance.
LEASH AND MOUNT
Kona Ocean has two leash attachments based on what suits you and the conditions. One is located in front of the standing surface, which is most often used for training and competition and touring, as well as an attachment in the tail for paddling and surfing in breaking waves and rapids. The nose also has a mount (FCS) for action cameras. In front of the standing surface, there are also four brackets that can be used to mount an elastic packing system so that you can bring various necessities while paddling.
TOURING
All in all, the board's low and durable hull profile, exceptional glide and stability as well as efficient drainage and the built - in packing system, Ocean 12.6 Carbon Hybrid also make a fantastic touring board for many and long paddle trips.
RACE-SURFING AND DOWNWIND
Due to Kona Ocean's unique design and ability to adjust the position of the fin, it is exceptionally easy to surf with this 12 foot long racing board. You catch waves early and turn distinctly with the help of both the rear edges of the board and the fin.
KONA OCEAN 12.6 CARBON HYBRID
This is the most versatile SUP board for training and competition and for you who are looking for distinct maneuverability and glide to get the most out of your capacity. If you want a single SUP board for everything, this is our obvious recommendation
